What’s that again?


If you’re anything like I was, I had NO idea I had to learn a whole new hair language when I BC’d…don’t worry, the acronym is part of this post. I promise. In fact, there are a whole bunch of them you will become familiar with, if you haven’t already. Also, there are terms/words that will have a completely different/new meaning by the time you’re done reading this. So fear not, your Urbanhair Dictionary is here! Lol

  1. Transitioning = When you decide to go natural, or sans relaxers, but you’re not ready to BC. Involves maintaining two hair types until you BC.
  2. BC = Big Chop. Whenever you cut all of your relaxed ends off, or just want to start over.
  3. TWA = Teenie Weenie Afro. What you get after you BC and lasts until your hair grows long enough to do some styles you really like (lol).
